KIM LEWIS in

It’s “Shirley Valentine ” for the death set; a hilarious love story
about farcical funerals, misplaced bodies, kismet and champagne.

BY ANGUS FITZSIMONS

(Mono & Senior Moments)

“This is gentle, feel-good theatre, a “nice night’s entertainment” without having to go out after dark... Warmly recommended.”

Grace Stevens works at a lovely small town funeral home, ‘Beebe & Sons’, serving morning tea to the mourners. But now her new boss could be the new-age Hal Samson, of ‘Samson’s Life Celebrations’; who wants to turn funerals into a party, complete with luaus, skydiving and fireworks! A horrified Grace is determined to save ‘Beebe & Sons’ and be rid of Hal Samson, which would be a lot easier if she wasn’t falling in love with him.

“Mourning Tea”:

Death is not necessarily a serious business.

The brilliant Kim Lewis (Sons & Daughters, Senior Moments) stars in the wonderful “Mourning Tea”.
You deserve a sweet treat; come and enjoy some “Mourning Tea”!

And with four 11am matinee, you can have morning tea with “Mourning Tea”. Bring your mother, bring your sister, bring your friends, bring yourself, bring your spouse or somebody you just met on Tinder who seems sort-of-ok. All tickets only $44 (Plus the damn booking fee; don’t get me started…)

It’s the feel-good funeral frolic of the year!

“If you miss it you will have cause to mourn indeed.”

Kim Lewis

as Grace Stevens

Kim Lewis first gained fame playing Jill Taylor on Sons and Daughters. After that she decided to learn how to act and went to NIDA. Her distinguished theatrical career includes The Crucible, Dead White Males, The Heidi Chronicles and Catholic School Girls. From 2017, Kim has starred in all seasons of the smash hit comedy revue Senior Moments with Max Gillies, John Wood, John Howard (the actor one) and Benita Collings. Her TV credits include The Doctor Blake Mysteries, All Saints, G.P., Blackrock, Packed to Rafters, The Jesters and Squizzy Taylor. Kim is a skilled shoplifter and once removed the entire dairy products aisle of Neutral Bay Woolworths, which is harder than you might think as the yoghurt products alone weighed 35 kilograms. Nicole Kidman is Kim’s understudy in real life, which is immensely frustrating for Ms. Kidman because Kim is a seasoned pro and has yet to miss a single performance day.

“...quite the tour de force”

Angus FitzSimons

Writer & Director

Angus never went to NIDA but watched Kermit the Frog closely when he was running things backstage on The Muppet Show and figures he’s got this theatre thing down. A keen sportsman, he once beat Russian Chess Grand Master Garry Kasparov. Not at chess, he just didn’t like the way Garry was looking at him when he walked by one frosty Moscow morning in 1994.. Angus started directing in The Sydney University Law Revue until he received a very curt letter from the Dean and a formal warning from Sir Anthony Mason. He has previously directed his feet to the sunny side of the street, the Senior Moments Revues, Mono, and also the second series of the TV sitcom The Jesters starring Mick Molloy, Susie Porter and Deborah Kennedy. Apart from being Australia’s second tallest playwright; Mr FitzSimons is also the author of the bestsellers “Senior Moments: The Complete Guide on How to Be Senior” and “To Kill a Mockingbird”. (The latter title is still in dispute, thanks to the ridiculously litigious estate of Harper Lee; who refuse to accept Mr FitzSimons’ ‘time-travel plagiarism’ defence).

“Funny fellow. One imagines he probably has a PhD in serious silliness.”
